rice Dealing


Rice is a controlled item under the Price Control Act (Chapter 244) and the Price Control (Rice) Order 1990 issued by the Minister for Trade and Industry.

A licence is required to import (into Singapore or Singapore Free Trade Zone), re-export and carry out wholesale dealings of rice.
No. Types of Licences Activities
1 Licence to import and carry on wholesale dealings in white rice, basmati rice, parboiled rice and ponni rice only -
2 Licence to import and carry on wholesale dealings in glutinous rice, brown rice, red rice, cargo rice, wild rice, etc -
3 Licence to import for re-export Import of rice for re-export only (FTZ). Consignments shall be kept at FTZ (Free Trade Zone).
4 Licence to import for manufacturing Import of 100% broken White rice for manufacturing purposes.
5 Licence to carry on wholesale dealings in rice Import of rice is not permitted. This licence is for merchants to carry out wholesale dealings in all types of rice within Singapore.
